Saturday 10 August 2024 - What should good ice look like?

I thought it would be helpful to those attending (or looking to attend) the rink at QUEENS skate dine bowl to understand what good ice should look like.

Today, I visited a competitor rink, Lee Valley Ice Centre, located not too far from Hackney.

As you can see, the ice is almost completely smooth, with no grey concrete appearing through the surface. You will also notice that, unlike QUEENS skate dine bowl, the rink is not covered in a mood-destroying layer of water.
